NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

November is going to be a busy month! Between our first field trip of the year, our “Spirit Days”, Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving, we have a lot going on.

We have 2 Friday Nights Out scheduled for November on the 3rd, and the 17th. Each Friday Night Out needs at least 6 registered kids in order to remain open. Please let us know if you’d like to sign up!. It’s a fun opportunity to have a date night, or even just have a few hours of alone time to yourself to grab a glass of wine and take a long bath. Your children will have fun with their friends in an environment they’re comfortable in, so it’s a win-win!

Please remember that our first field trip of the year is scheduled for November 29th. We’ll be spending the day at the Safari Park in Escondido. School shirts for the field trip will be passed out on the two days prior to the field trip.

On November 22nd, the day before Thanksgiving, we will have a school-wide half day. There will be no extra care offered that day, and all students are to be picked up no later than 12:30pm. French students should be picked up by 11:30a.m., Spanish half-day students picked up by 12:00p.m., and all full day students picked up by 12:30p.m.

SPIRIT DAYS

In November and December, we’ll be having two fun “Spirit Days”.

On November 20th, and 21st we will have Pajama Day. Students can come to class in their pajamas. Please don’t send children in “footie pajamas” as they need to be wearing comfortable shoes to school.

On December 19th, 20th, and 21st we will have Crazy Hair Day. Crazy styles, colors, shapes and accessories are welcome.

PHOTOS

As mentioned in previous newsletters, we will not be having a formal Holiday picture day this year. However, one of our parents is a professional photographer, and will be on site taking group and candid individual photographs of the students in the coming weeks. Mr. Medina will be on site on the 20,21, 22, 27,and 28 of November.

All group and candid shots will be posted on his website (https://moxamark.smugmug.com/), and he will offer photo files for sale for those who wish to purchase them for $10 each. The maximum charge per family is $40. So in the event that there are more than 4 photos of a child, and you want them all, the charge is only $40. Also if a family has 2 or more siblings in the school they can get all the photos of all their kids for a maximum of $40.

(Prints can be ordered as well. Prices depend on size and medium of photo. Prints are available in metal, paper, canvas, etc. and if you’d like to discuss those printing options you can contact Mr. Medina individually.)

SAFARI PARK FIELD TRIP

Our first field trip of the year is coming up on November 29, 2017. We will have a fun day exploring the park together! Based on the response to our poll, all parents will be driving their students directly and acting as their chaperone. We will begin our day at the park at 9:30 a.m., so we ask that everyone arrive by 9:00 so that we’re ready to enter the park together at 9:30. Students who don’t usually attend school on Wednesdays are more than welcome to join us on the field trip, and those students who usually do a full day on Wednesdays can be dropped off back at school following the field trip (which will end at 1:30 p.m.)

  • We will have lunch and snack at the Safari Park, so please be sure to pack food for your child.
  • Entrance cost is $13 per person (unless you have a Safari Park membership). This includes the price of the Africa tram. Please bring this in to the office in cash in an envelope prior to the 29th.
  • Tours will be given by our Lingua Natal teachers in Spanish and French.
  • Lingua Natal shirts will be passed out on the 27th & 28th. For those who don’t attend school on those days, we will have their shirts at the Safari Park in the morning of the 29th.

We look forward to a fun day!

FOOD PREPARATION

If you signed up to bring ingredients for your child’s class food preparations at the beginning of the year, please disregard that. As the school year has progressed we have moved a few students, and we will be sending out new sign-up forms via e-mail and SignUpGenius.

Please keep your eyes peeled for those e-mails as the children very much enjoy their time preparing food in the kitchen.

PARENT COMMITTEE CORNER

We want to thank everyone who attended our first Dine out fundraiser @ Crack Shack! We had 20 families participate and hope that number continues to grow at future outings! We are adding two more before year end to help raise much needed funds for our sister school Chantik.

We are also getting ready to engage our room faciliators and volunteer squad members – stay tuned for updates in the coming weeks ahead! We are so thrilled to have such an active and eager community.

Lastly, Facebook is our primary channel for communication and news and need to ensure we are reaching our entire community.

Please email – monicalopera22@gmail.com – if you are NOT active on Facebook as we are compiling a separate email group list for non social media families. It is important for us to understand the best way to capture all families in order to avoid duplication in communication efforts.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

THANKSGIVING MESSAGE

During the month of November, we often slow down and ponder thoughtfully on the things we are thankful for. At Lingua Natal, we are always thankful for our students and their families. It’s because of you that we have such a beautiful, multicultural community of people who value the same things we do. At Lingua Natal, we feel that learning languages is about so much more than just learning to speak; it’s about embracing a new culture, and expanding our childrens’ world view.

Thank you for being a part of our community.

Sincerely,

Lingua Natal Founder & Director
